This 2.01 Hector scheme in Vauxhall is adjacent to Battersea Dogs and Cats home. The site consists of 11 buildings with provision for 839 residential units, retail and Cafes, and a new facility for the Royal College of Arts. It has a basement across the whole site. Our value engineering of the initial design removed the need for complex and expensive temporary works, providing significant cost and time savings. The site previously housed four gas holders – three of these remain and form a large constraint to the basement. We collaborated with the architect and client to redesign the basement so the gas holder walls act as the temporary works. Our scope also includes requisition of a sewer to discharge surface water run off to the Thames, significant highway improvements to the adjoining roads, full drainage design including provision for SUDS as well as advising on traffic maneuverability through the site.
