A new PFI hospital built adjacent to the existing Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge. It covers an area of 40,000m2, and provides 300 beds, seven operating theatres and five catheterisation labs. The open plan spaces that post-tensioned concrete allows, means this state of the art facility is functional; whilst embracing the architect’s holistic design concept. This project required flexibility in both design and construction, which our team were able to adapt to, due to our experience in the healthcare sector.

With innovative in-house monitoring tools, Walsh clients have seen on average reductions of 10-20% total embodied carbon, with some of our flagship work achieving 60-70% reductions compared with baseline figures.
