We worked on Plots S7 and S8 of the this development , which form the residential element of The International Quarter . The plots now host 30 and 17 storey residential apartments with penthouses at the upper levels. TIQ is part of the larger Stratford City development that includes the Westfield shopping centre and Olympic Village. This project required diagnostics and value engineering. We were able to achieve a cost effective and well-implemented concrete frame solution on a highly compromised piece of land. Our main challenge was the ground conditions. The site is on an area of land formed with spoil and contaminated fill from the Channel Tunnel Rail Link Stratford Box. Additional constraints came in the form of limitations on piling techniques, and Network Rail services running through at varying levels connecting the Olympic Park with the surrounding infrastructure. Using BIM software we were able to demonstrate potential solutions to our client, illustrating the benefit of our approach. This resulted in a 40% saving in concrete volume. We are also able to offer planning support from design stage right through to completion.
